New Brampton Cross business park could create 15,000 jobs in Cambridgeshire

A vast new employment park could transform Huntingdonshire’s economy, with developers claiming it has the potential to create up to 15,000 jobs.

Endurance Estates has unveiled plans for Brampton Cross, a 945-acre site positioned between Brampton, Ellington, Alconbury and Woolley. Situated at the junction of the A1 and A14, the development is pitched as a “world-class employment park” at a strategic crossroads linking London, the Midlands, the North and the East Coast ports.

According to the developer, Brampton Cross could generate £20m annually in business rates while offering space for local businesses to scale and new enterprises to flourish. The proposals emphasise tackling regional economic disparities by providing “good, productive jobs” and raising living standards across Huntingdonshire.

A key element of the project is collaboration with local schools and universities, including Anglia Ruskin University and Hinchingbrooke School, to connect young people with training, upskilling and employment opportunities. Developers also stress a commitment to green energy, sustainable transport and biodiversity.

Plans include 339 acres of green space—larger than Milton Country Park and Hinchingbrooke Country Park combined—alongside segregated cycleways and pedestrian routes. Consultations have also been held with local bus providers to integrate public transport into the site.

Initial community consultations took place in June, giving residents a first look at the proposals. A second consultation is planned for autumn and winter, where updated plans will be shared.

If approved, Brampton Cross would represent one of the largest employment developments in the region, offering a significant economic injection while raising questions about infrastructure, environmental impact and community integration.
