Ink Laboratory Technician

We have a new position available within an R&D team for an Ink Laboratory Technician. You'll join an expanding team delivering a revolutionary digital printing technology into the marketplace. As part of the role, you'll support the Ink team preparing specialised inks from laboratory scale through to manufacture. The team is based on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border and has the added bonus of having a rail station on the doorstep, with direct links to both Cambridge and London. What You'll Be Doing:

* Preparing and filtering inks from pigment dispersions
* Carrying out analytical measurements on samples of dispersions collected during milling operations
* Coordinating ink production for internal and external customers
* Contributing to other areas of ink team work, including supporting the milling of pigment dispersions through setting up, operating and cleaning bead mills, working alongside Ink Scientists
* Assisting with the smooth, safe and efficient running of the lab, including helping keeping the laboratory tidy and well stocked

What We're Looking For:

* Hands on laboratory experience
* Any experience in working a production environment where inks or other fluid formulations are prepared would be a bonus
* Able to carry out hands-on lab procedures in a methodical, careful and safe way, following standard procedures
* You'll be keen and enthusiastic to learn new skills. Training will be provided in all aspects of the job
* Basic competence with standard IT packages, including Microsoft Excel and Word
* Good numerical skills, an ability to record observations and measurements for sharing with colleagues
* Able to work flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, where priorities may change at short notice
* Good verbal and written communication skills; the ability to communicate and interact effectively with colleagues at all levels
* Proactive, self-motivated and resourceful with ability to work effectively in teams in a focussed industrial research environment
