» Software Engineer

Our client is currently looking to recruit a Software Engineer to join their Software Group.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the software product life cycle including concept generation, specification, design, implementation, integration, test and in-service support. This will include working with real-time operating systems, graphical interfaces, off the shelf high-technology sub-systems as well as in-house processor driven boards. You should have a reasonable understanding of Software Engineering and should be able to demonstrate an ability to learn quickly so that you can contribute as soon as possible to the Software and Integration teams.
The key tasks to this position are:
· Assist specialist engineers in the provision of innovative and unique solutions in the design, development and delivery of the software required for new projects or in the modification of existing software
· Maintain the processes and procedures related to software development within the company
· Advise the specialists of technology developments in the software area including methodologies and selection of tools
· Provide software contribution on project work packages within the company
· Supply support to ONE project.
It is essential that you are proficient in:
· C and/or C++ programming
· Structured analysis and software design methodologies, including configuration control, writing specifications, testing and hardware integration
· Software verification techniques and tools
· Sub-system integration and testing
In addition, it is essential that you:
· Have an understanding and experience in operating across a number of stages of the software engineering lifecycle
· Are willing to travel within the UK and overseas at short notice and possibly on a frequent basis.
It is desirable that you will have an understanding of:
· Operating systems, languages and technology trends
· Developing real-time embedded software
· Communication protocols, for example RS422, IP
· RTOS, for example VX works, VRTX, WIN CE
· Low-level hardware interface drivers, for example PowerPC, ARM, MIPs
