» Radio Systems Lead

Main purpose of the job
To take a lead role in the development of state-of-the-art wireless systems.
The role involves leading a team in the specification, design and implementation of advanced wireless products, providing direction and guidance that results in successful and market-leading solutions for our clients.


Specific responsibilities
- To take a lead role in the Radio Systems Group.
- Prepare specifications for wireless systems, the design of wireless systems and be capable of converting application requirements into real solutions
- Lead multi-faceted engineering teams, focusing the team to deliver a solution
- Participate in sales meetings with clients and, in conjunction with the business developer’s, help interpret client requirements and demonstrate the company’s capability
- Prepare and generate the technical response to bids and tenders for both existing and future clients
- Define the most suitable analogue system design or architecture to meet a specification
- Create novel design solutions that will be of particular interest to our clients and contribute to the IP portfolio
- Act as a design mentor to other members of staff and to contribute to the development of the technical discipline of the group
- Where appropriate, contribute to the maintenance and development of our CAD systems to enhance our development capability



Minimum requirements

To meet the demanding requirements of the role you will have a good degree in an engineering or related subject. With previous relevant experience working as a radio designer, possibly within a lead role for a telecommunications company or other relevant area, you will also have:
- A strong technical background in radio design
- Extensive experience of overall system design across multiple disciplines
- A proven ability to lead engineering teams
- Good knowledge of the product development process
- A proven record of getting designs right first time
- Good oral and written communication skills
- The ability to interact effectively at all levels in a client organization
- An understanding of wireless DSP will be considered an advantage (where appropriate, training will be provided)
