» Production Engineer

Working alongside the Production Engineering team, a Production Engineer is required to concentrate on the improvement of the manufacturing process, overseeing the productivities of the machine, control capital procurement projects and deal with daily issues as they arise.

Main responsibilities of the role:

1. Provide in-depth technical support, including extensive program investigations and modifications. This will require extensive experience in programming intelligent drives, PLC’s and PC’s.
2. Manage capital investment projects on time and in budget.
3. Be proactive in identifying and communication opportunities to continually improve and implement sustainable solutions to technical problems.
4. Clearly communicate process and plant status to other team members and shifts.
5. Support and process engineering changes for plant capability, maintenance and improvement where required.
6. Develop and undertake Production Engineering (SMED, 5s and similar) for all equipment and machines.
7. Maintain and update all relevant engineering drawings.
8. Single Minute Exchange of Dyes – optimising change over process.
9. Continue development of 5s within department.
10. Other duties as may reasonably be required.

Problem solving
The post holder is required to be able to resolve both simple and complex failures and issues.

Decision making
It is necessary to work within tight deadlines and to be both precise and accurate.

Communication
The ability to gain rapport and credibility quickly as well as communicate at all levels is vital.
Be comfortable with phone or face to face negotiation. Both written and oral communication skills are required to be of a high standard.

Time Management
The position involves ensuring that all work is organised to meet relevant deadlines. The ability to prioritise tasks and manage time to achieve tasks is required.

Representation
Since the post holder will liaise with many external customers/visitors it is necessary for the person to represent the Company in a professional and business-like manner.


Travel
Travel, both in the UK and abroad, is a feature of this position. This will be in support of both capital investment projects, and high level technical support.




Knowledge and Skills required
You must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, and Excel, AutoCad and a visual programming language. Good communication and organisational skills are essential and the person must have the confidence and maturity to work on their own initiative and remain calm under pressure.

Knowledge of rotating machinery would be advantageous whilst extensive experience in programming intelligent drives, PLC’s and PC’s is essential.

Qualifications
Applicants should possess a good general standard of education in addition to a Degree, HND or HNC Electronic qualification, though demonstrable ability is the actual requirement.

Desirable Attributes
* Proven experience in fault finding on modern software driven systems.
* Experience in a purchasing / expediting function.
* Experience in a logistics function.
