» Lead Automation Engineer
Our client is looking to recruit a Lead Automation Engineer on a permanent basis.
You will be responsible for supporting and developing elements of the Manufacturing Automation systems in use at our client’s site in line with current best practice. Provision of control and instrumentation expertise in support of projects on the site
Role Dimensions:
• Reports to the Principal Automation Engineer
• Member of Operations Automation Team (4 staff team)
• To work at all times in line with current EHS legislation and our client’s own policies and procedures to maintain own, team and public safety.
• To support the manufacturing automation systems to ensure reliability and robustness of operation and to identify, develop and implement automation changes to support Manufacturing
• Will be part of a cross functional team to execute automation/IT based capital projects.
• Required to liaise with Maintenance, Production, Capital Projects and scientific personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work within standards and operational policies/procedures for the Automation group/systems on site
• Develop Automation policies and Standard Operating Procedures as required
• Ensure all work executed is carried out in compliance with current legislation and policy
• Support the existing Automation systems to ensure that production targets (volumes, compliance, OEE etc) are met
• Identify, develop and implement approved automation changes to support Manufacturing operations
• Support the implementation of the site Automation Strategy
• Keep up to date on current trends and technologies and ensure the appropriate solutions are utilised to maximise business benefits
• Participate in various Automation capital projects (in line with the Automation Strategy) to deliver on plan and budget
Scope/Impact
Work is not supervised directly but reviewed against agreed plans and results. Once aim is established you will proceed under your own direction. This plays a key or lead role in project teams.
Recognised as a key technical resource within own function and sometimes outside. Will run several smaller projects or take part in larger ones. Effective input will result in their segment of a project being delivered on time and to cost.
Relationships
This role will chiefly support the MTS, Manufacturing, Capital Projects, Maintenance and IT groups on site. The role holder will be able to:
• Communicate clearly, interpreting and explaining complex technical material / subjects to non-technical or non-expert audiences.
• Adopt a highly supportive and flexible approach to meet the needs to a variety of tasks, skill levels and backgrounds of the individuals with whom s/he will interact.
• Act as a role model to others
• Must have:
• Automation/Process Engineering qualification (Degree/HNC) or equivalent
• A demonstrable track record of delivering excellent results and projects in the Pharmaceutical Industry or similar heavily regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience of design, installation and project management of Automation systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS etc).
• Experience of operation and support of installed Automation Systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS etc).
• Working knowledge of cGMP and GAMP.
• Experience of Rockwell/Allen Bradley FactoryTalk and ControlLogix/CompactLogix PLCs
• Field Instrumentation experience (configuring, troubleshooting, etc)
• Electrical drive experience (e.g. setting up of VSD's)
• Instrumentation, Electrical or electronic apprenticeship
• Hazardous area equipment experience - selection, maintenance
Desirable:
• Working knowledge of Annex 11 and 21 CFR pt11
• Working knowledge of general laboratory equipment and systems
• Working knowledge of Pilot Plant equipment and operations
