» Development Engineer
Description
Design of opto and electro-mechanical sensor system components and assemblies using Solidworks and analytical software. The candidate will enjoy both CAD and hands-on aspects of developing complete and cost-effective sensor instruments in close collaboration within a
small development team. Duties also involve visits to end-user sites to install, service, remove and operate instruments which are under development and trial. A willingness to work at heights within prescribed safety procedures is essential and full training will be given.
Candidate Profile
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Value Engineering
Strong desire to join a team designing cost-effective robust industrial instruments.
Competent in using a 3D CAD program, preferably Solidworks
Some experience of finite element analysis for fluid flow and thermal modelling
Trained in mechanical workshop practice
Very competent in Excel and Word
Duties and Responsibilities
Using Solidworks to design new products
Create accurate part and assembly drawings, product specifications and bills of material
Modify and up-issue drawings in accordance with the Change Note system
Check and provide approvals to drawings
Contribute to review meetings in accordance with the NPI process
Advise Production Engineers of suitable jigs, tooling and assembly procedures
Oversee production of first build of new products and product modifications
Liaise directly with suppliers to develop component specifications, prices and delivery
Design and perform tests on prototype instruments
Visit customer sites to install and carry out trials on instruments
Write and present reports on tests and project development progress
Hours of Work 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
Please note the role will involve travel in various EU and non-EU countries therefore candidates must have the right to work in all locations.
Cambridgeshire | Salary range: £27,500 to 33,000
