Main purpose of the job
To create innovative and valuable product concepts, system concepts and R&D portfolios with cross-functional commitment from our clients’ organisations, using mainly workshop-based approaches.
Type of work undertaken by the group
Our consulting work combines in-depth technical expertise with industry understanding and market knowledge. Typical examples of work undertaken include:
Innovation management
Market strategy development and market modelling
Partnering, licensing and outsourcing
Transaction support, including due diligence assessment and expert reports for public listings
Our consulting activities are primarily in Northern Europe and the USA, with about 30% of the work in the UK.
Specific responsibilities
This position involves the management of projects through the complete lifecycle:
* clarifying the need with the client
* writing the proposal
* communicating our competence during the sales process
* managing and completing the work to time and budget
* maintaining the client relationship
Projects typically involve intense activity on a series of creative one-day workshops (one every 7-11 days) followed by 4-8 weeks of interactive management of a team of 7-10 technical and marketing specialists from within the company and the client staff.
You will be required to liaise at the senior level in the client organisation, communicate with and effectively guide both technical and marketing staff as well as work alongside other consultants and analysts when required to contribute to others’ projects.
The global nature of the business means there will be some requirement for you to travel.
Minimum requirements
A good degree in a scientific, engineering or related discipline plus experience of applying your knowledge to real world problems. An MBA or other commercial qualification will be considered an advantage.
Excellent skills in facilitation of cross-functional groups.
Experience of the following is essential:
Facilitating creative and or decision-making workshops on a regular basis
Consulting
Working at all levels of organisations and specifically with senior management including CTOs, CMOs and Innovation Directors
Project managing innovation assignments in a technical environment.
Experience of understanding and meeting consumer needs is preferable.
