» Consultant - Healthcare (Market Strategy)
Main purpose of the job
The primary role is to apply commercial and technical value in the management of projects concerned with market and product positioning on behalf of healthcare companies, including medical devices, diagnostics and services as well as pharmaceutics. The secondary role is to apply such skills to clients outside of the healthcare arena.
Type of work undertaken by the group
There are 3 key elements of work conducted by the group, summarized below:-
* Identifying market opportunities for novel technologies and first in class products
* Strengthening client portfolios by techniques allowing decision support on product, technology and company acquisition
* Advising on product launch and market expansion strategies
The distinctive feature the client brings to their consulting work is the combination of industry understanding, market knowledge, relevant in-depth technical expertise as well as proven consulting tools and methodologies. The consulting activities are centred primarily in the USA and Northern Europe. Although most of the work is based in the Cambridge office the ability to travel to client sites is important.
Specific responsibilities
You will be taking the lead role in planning, proposal generation, liaison with clients and project management of teams. You will also make a significant contribution to the delivery of consultancy projects, often working on more than one concurrently. To achieve this, you will be expected to:
* Lead meetings with clients, give presentations and communicate ideas and concepts to all disciplines
* Support the activities of senior consultants in sales meetings, writing sales presentations, project proposals and planning projects
* Consistently produce excellent work, develop your area of expertise and be sought out for advice in this area within the company
* Take a role in developing new consulting offerings in the company
Minimum requirements
To meet the demanding requirements of this role you will have an excellent first degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, although preferentially in a biological science or bioengineering. A higher degree or MBA would be an advantage. You should also have experience in and a good knowledge of the healthcare industry in a product management, business development or project management role. Experience of consultancy would also be an advantage. You will have a track record of delivering challenging projects against tight time and budget constraints. You will have a proven ability to lead teams, present and have the ability to analyse and communicate commercial and technical recommendations both within the project team and to clients.
