Business Development Executive

 

Our client, based on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border are seeking a Business Development Executive with experience of developing and commercialising products in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry and with a good understanding of bioprocessing.

Key Job Accountabilities
This is high profile position within the development team in which the candidate job holder will be expected to identify and validate new product opportunities around our existing product portfolio and work closely with our client's commercial and engineering teams and early adopters of the technology to define and support the product development and to build a robust pipeline of early adoption customers before introducing the product to the wider commercial team.

Key components of the role are:

* Understanding market requirements:
Working closely with potential customers and our client's business development and commercial team to understand the needs of the pharmaceutical and industrial bioprocessing companies
* Business plan:
Develop and validate business plans for the new products. Develop the commercialisation strategy, based on market requirements and a thorough understanding of the underlying technology need. Continually validate the commercial offering to ensure it will deliver value for the company.
* Establish partnerships:
Working closely with the commercial team (including Product Managers) to establish relationships and partnerships with pharmaceutical and industrial bioprocessing companies, academia and vendors of complementary technologies to develop and extend the company's product portfolio. Lead discussions and negotiations with potential development and/or commercialisation partners working closely with senior management.
* Coordinate and manage the commercialisation:
o Managing development partners and coordinating with engineers working on the underlying technology and product development
o Working with project teams to coordinate the delivery of development systems to early adopters
o Planning the introduction and launch (internal and external)
o Communication of requirements for product enhancements
* IP:
Maximise the value of the IP portfolio associated with the technology by indentifying new IP within the developments

Qualifications
Minimum BSc (Hons) 2:1 from an established University in a biological discipline with experience of implementing technology. Alternatively, an engineering discipline with experience of taking innovative biological technologies through development to market.
It is likely that the successful candidate will have an MSc or PhD in related fields.

Experience
The candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of developing and commercialising products into the biotech or pharmaceutical industry. They will have a good understanding of bioprocessing, and will be very comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment. In addition they will have experience of managing relationships and establishing and negotiating partnerships in this field.

* IP experience/knowledge
* An understanding of the presentation of financial information to support investment decisions

* Experience of working within US and European environments
* Demonstrate ability to lead cross-functional project teams
