Interview tips & advice
Your consultant at Polytec will have briefed you about the company you are visiting and will have passed on as much information about the job as possible. It is sensible however to do some of your own research into the company, for example by visiting their website.
Check the location of the interview and allow plenty of time for your journey. If you are still unsure of the location consider visiting beforehand.
First impressions count, so make sure you dress accordingly; polished shoes, clean nails etc. Keep perfume/aftershave/make-up to a minimum. If you are unsure, it’s safer to dress too smartly than not smartly enough!
On arrival offer a firm (but not crushing!) handshake and make sure you make good eye contact with the interviewer(s)
You may wish to bring some prepared questions, and/or take notes during your interview. It is courteous to ask permission before taking notes. Do not ask questions for the sake of it – instead ensure that they are relevant to the job for which you are applying. Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification on any questions you don't understand.
Listen carefully to the questions you are asked, and answer clearly. By providing examples where previous experience has been of benefit you will show that you have thought carefully about the question in particular, and the job in general.
